Hourdoc has the ability to notify managers by email if any of their employees requested day(s) off.

The incorrect department manager was set for the employee. You will need to specify the correct department manager for the employee on the employee's preferences.
You can modify this in Preferences --> Personnel/Employees and then find the employee and click on his name, this will open his profile.. If you click on the "Primary Manager" dropdown you'll notice all your companies primary managers. Simply pick a manager from the list and submit/save the form.
